Introduction - A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words

Years ago when Steven and Tommy were babies, the upside of Down syndrome wasn’t what one read about, heard of, or even saw. The information back then was largely outdated and incorrect and some information was downright scary. So when we saw with our own eyes our boys and other children we came to know, their smiles, their joy in exploring and learning about the world, their ability to love life - we saw the upside. Looking at the children right there in front of us allowed us to relegate that old information, that old misinformation, to the dustbin.
